I. M. Frightful Story of Water Witch
I. M. Frightful Story of Water Witch by Dvora Swickle is a picture book great for Halloween, but also carries a valuable message that can be taught throughout the year. Ian learns that his family needs a dowser to find a new well, but he is not listening carefully. As he shares this information with friends, the tale morphs, and Ian is afraid his house will be flooded by the water witch. As he relays the story to his friends, with each telling, Ian becomes more terrified.
Ms. Swickle weaves a tale that reflects on the importance of listening and asking the right questions. This book is highly recommended for small children, both boys and girls. And, even though Ian is scared in the story, the book is written at a level that will not scare the little ones.
