Just Be with Bizzy Bee

Just Be with Bizzy Bee

Just Be with Bizzy BeeI downloaded Just Be with Bizzy Bee by Hilary Hawkes because I’m interested in learning to practice mindfulness meditation. Although I’ve only had limited exposure to the subject, I decided to compare this children’s book to what I’ve read elsewhere. This book is an excellent tool to teach children how to recognize the differences in their emotions and calm to themselves when needed. The mindfulness/relaxation technique included at the back of the book was quite helpful. Parents might want to try this to at night to help their children fall asleep, as well.

The concepts are presented in a picture book format, but I highly recommend this book for people of all ages. If we’d all take several deep breaths and calm ourselves, the world might be a much nicer place.

I M Frightful Story of Water Witch by Dvora Swickle

I. M. Frightful Story of Water Witch by Dvora Swickle is a picture book great for Halloween, but also carries a valuable message that can be taught throughout the year. As he relays the story to his friends, with each telling, Ian becomes more terrified.

Butterfiles: Miniature Beauties of the World by Reno’s Mom

Butterflies: Miniature Beauties of the World  is both educational and beautiful. It takes the reader through the caterpillar to butterfly life cycle. The gorgeous pictures of butterflies are simply breathtaking. Kudos to the photographer for having the patience to wait for these lovely pictures. I loved the respect for nature and easy conversational style used to present the information.

Little Miss History Travels to Mount Rushmore

Little Miss History Travels to Mount Rushmore by Barbara Ann Mojica is an educational and fun way to introduce children to history. Ms. Mojica is a historian and retired educator, and her love of history is conveyed effortlessly throughout the book. She brings life to the presidents memorialized in stone at Mount Rushmore, along with other related characters. The illustrations are well-drawn and match perfectly with the story being told.  Continue reading Little Miss History Travels to Mount Rushmore
